A Run in with Mystery Boy

I stared absently out the window in the principal's office and watched as the fall leaves fluttered softly to the ground. Today I'd been caught giving ninth graders back their finished homework while they paid me. I'm quite smart, so why not help out some freshman for a few bucks, I could use it. Well that's what I thought, but apparently, 'that's completely inappropriate and should not be happening on school grounds'. Yeah, like I give a shit.

"Ms. Sabers, are you listening?" I broke my gaze from the window and turned to look at my all too elegant looking principal. Her bleach blonde hair was pulled back into a meticulous chignon and her makeup was immaculate. She wore a white blazer and a black pencil skirt that stopped right above her knees. Her gold name tag that had, 'Lauren Reed' printed on the front shined brightly in the sunlight that was gleaming through the open window.

"Yes," I lied. I hadn't heard a thing she had said the whole time.

Ms. Reed raised her eyebrows at me and fixed her turquoise eyes on mine, "Well, this is the third time this week you've been in my office. First talking back to your teacher, and then being late for class, and now this? It's only the first week back from summer vacation. I'm very disappointed." I fiddled with the laces on my converse. Okay, so maybe I wasn't the best behaved student ever, but at least I came to school every day, and I even listened to the teachers occasionally, too.

"Please sit properly," she hassled. I removed my legs from underneath me and repositioned myself in the wooden chair in front of her old mahogany desk, my feet now planted firmly on the hard wood floor.

"Thank you," I stared blankly at her. "Now, you will have detention after school today in the music room. Make sure to bring a book with you or some homework because you'll be the only one there," she said. I suppressed a groan. Great. Two hours in hell.

"You may go now. And I don't want to see you again in my office any time soon, understand?" she shot me a stern look. I nodded

I got up and made my way to the door, not bothering to say 'thanks' or even a 'good bye'. I was pissed.

I trudged down the hallway and retrieved my cell phone from my pants pocket. Four minutes till my next class. Usually I wouldn't care about being late for class, but I had Mr.Wright fifth period and I wasn't in the mood for a lecture. I sighed and rushed to my locker, struggling with the combination. Come on, come on.

Finally, when the lock was free, I grabbed all my books and slammed the locker door shut. I glanced at the clock above the bulletin board a few feet away.

I grimaced. Three minutes until fifth period started. I had English fifth period, which lucky for me, was on the other end of the frickin' school. I inwardly groaned. Well, if I run I could make it, I thought. I clutched my books to my chest and dashed down the hallway. I turned the corner so fast that I didn't see the wall there and of course, I smashed into it. I stumbled backwards, my books tumbling to the ground. Wait, why would there be a wall in the middle of the hallway? I didn't think I was that uncoordinated. I looked up and my eyes locked with the bluest ones I had ever seen. I slowly looked the wall up and down. Turns out it was actually a boy that I ran into, a hot boy. He was shouting on a girl.
“I don’t want it. Thank you for your efforts. I am way too desperate I know may be because I had been with those type of girls before in my past always so I am just used to it. Not your fault.”, he screamed.
On listening to this, tears rolled down her eyes and she ran away.

Realizing I'd been staring; I teared my gaze away from his extreme temper and down at the scatter of books on the floor. “Sorry," I muttered. I bent down and began to pick up my things when the loud ring of the bell went.

"Crap!" I gathered up all my books as fast as possible. I could not be late for class again. Mr. Wright would murder me. "Here," a deep voice said. I looked over in confusion and saw the guy I so clumsily ran into holding out my English textbook.

"Thanks," I took it from him and stood up. I shoved my hand in my jeans pocket and pulled out my cell phone again. I glanced at the time. One minute since English started and I still had to get to the other side of the school. I sighed. Great.

"I've got to go," I uttered. "Um... Bye." Wow. Smooth, Kody, just smooth. I mentally kicked myself for being so lame.

I hurried past mystery boy and continued my race to English class. That time I made sure to slow down when I turned the corners. I didn't want a replay of what just happened with Mr. Ten Pack back there.

What feels like forever, I'm finally in front of Mr. Wright, my English teacher's door. I took a deep breath, placed my hand on the cold handle and turned. I stepped inside the cool classroom. I caught a glimpse of my class and saw about twenty-nine pairs of eyes staring at me.

Awh, shit.

I think I interrupted one of Mr. Wright's lectures about the meaning of Poetry. Yeah, yeah, we heard it all before.

"Ah, Ms. Sabers, how nice of you to join us," Mr. Wright's nasal voice boomed through the classroom. I felt my face burning. I probably looked like a tomato.

"Sorry," I mumbled, staring down at the floor.

He sighed."Please take your seat," he said. I nodded my head and hurried to the back of the room where my seat was. When I sat down, I immediately breathed a sigh of relief. Thank God he didn't yell at me.

"So, back to Poetry," the pudgy, belligerent old man started. Yup, I was right.

I felt a tug on the sleeve of my hoodie and turned to see who had done it.

"Why were you late?" my best friend, Dylan whispers.

"Principal's office," I mumbled. I left out the part about running into the guy.

He chuckled. "Of course," I stuck my tongue out at him and turned back around.

I tuned out Mr. Wright's voice like I always did when he started his lectures about Poetry and gazed out the window into the school parking lot, my thoughts wandering.

But every so often my thoughts would drift back to one thing:

Those blue eyes. Who was this mystery boy?

Dash 'n Dine

The song Work Hard Play Hard By Wiz Khalifa blasted through my bedroom. I picked my Math textbook up from on top of me and hurried over to my phone. I had just got back from school about a half an hour ago since I had detention. Ms. Reed was right; nobody was there, besides me, of course. I tried sneaking out, but they caught me tiptoeing like a burglar. What could be more obvious?

"Hey Chelsea, what's up?" I said into the phone.

"Kody!" she screeched, forcing me to pull the phone away from my ear.

"Uh... yeah?" I said skeptically

"It's Friday!"

"Your point?"

"It's Friday which means the Start of the Year Party is tonight. We have to go!" she exclaimed.

Oh, hell no. There was no way I was going to some party with a bunch of sweaty teenagers and alcohol everywhere. Besides, I had to work.

"I can't go," I told her. "I have to work."

"Oh, come on! You always have to work! Why don't you just call in sick? I need my best friend!" I could practically hear the pout in her voice. As much as I'd like to call in sick and not have to go to work, I culdn't. We needed the money.

"Look, Chelea. I'm sorry, but I can't go, okay? And you still have Tyler. Honestly, why do you even want me to go? I don't really feel like being a third wheel." Tyler was Chelsea's boyfriend. They've been together for about a year now. They're 'deeply in love' which is why I hate being around them. It's nasty. Seriously, just being in the same room as the both of them will traumatise you for life and leave you with a series of nightmares in which you will never be free of.

"What? That's not true. You're never a third wheel," she protested

"Hmm, okay, whatever." I said. "But I'm still not going to the party."

She sighed. "Fine. See you Monday?"

"Yeah. Bye. Have fun at the party."

"Will do. See ya," she said. The line went dead. I closed my phone and walked back over to my bed. I grabbed my Calculus book and continued with the questions.

Okay derivatives, bring it on.

________________________________________________________

"Blake! I'm going to work," I called down the hall to my brother. I pulled my dark brown hair back into a high ponytail and glanced down at my outfit. I'm wore black dress pants and a white collared shirt with an orange and brown striped tie. I pinned my white nametag onto the front of my shirt. I looked at myself in the mirror. Ready.

"Okay," my brother called back. I grabbed my apron and walked out into our small living room. The chipped beige paint on the walls looked brighter than usual. My brother was sitting on our old couch flipping through the newspaper. Probably looking for a proper job, I thought. I looked at him. His dirty blonde hair was tousled and his eyebrows were furrowed in deep concentration. With his high cheekbones, tanned skin, and his cool gray eyes, most people would say he was a handsome lad. Not to mention his long eyelashes that any girl would envy. I look nothing like my brother. I had gotten most of my looks from our Mom while Blake got most of his looks from our Dad. But it's disgusting to see every girl swooning over Blake and him not even spare them a glance. My brother doesn't really have time for girls, nor does he care. The only girl he really cares about is me. But I'm his sister. He's twenty-two years old and most of his worries are spent on me and his job. I think a girlfriend would do him some good, maybe he'd be happier.

He glanced up at me. "You need a drive?"

"Nah, I think I'll walk," I told him, grabbing my coat.

"Okay, but be careful. I'm going out tonight, so I probably won't be back till late," my brother said.

"Street fighting?" I asked him even though I already knew the answer.

He sighed and placed the newspaper down beside him. "Kody, you know in order for us to pay the bills I have to street fight. But I'm looking for another job and it won't be long until I can stop street fighting," he said softly.

"But what if you get hurt?" I peeked up at him through my eyelashes. Okay, that was a stupid question. Of course he'll get hurt. He's physically challenging someone!

"I won't, Kody. Don't worry," he reassured me. My brother was pretty good fighter. I had lots of faith in him. Usually he would come home with a couple of bruises and a bloody nose, nothing too serious, but with our parents gone, you can't help but worry.

"Okay," I said, still not fully believing his words. And I think he sensed that because he stood up and opened his arms. "Come here," he said.

I walked into his outstretched arms and buried my face in his chest. I breathed in his scent. The strong smell of mint and oak filled my nostrils. "Be careful," I whispered.

"I will," he mumbled into my hair.

I broke away from his grasp and turned around. "Bye. Love you," I uttered over my shoulder.

"Love you, too," he called back. I opened the door and stepped outside into the cool breeze.

**************************************************************************************

After a ten minute walk, I finally arrived at the restaurant where I work. It took me a long time to get the job considering I'm not exactly rich and this restaurant is fairly expensive, but I got it and the pay isn't bad. I worked here often, since my brother and I really needed the money, so I knew mostly everyone who worked here.

I stepped inside the restaurant and was immediately greeted by the strong smell of bread sticks and pasta. Yum!

I headed over to the back of the restaurant and punched in. I grabbed a notebook and pen and made my way towards table two. Pam, an old lady who also worked there passed by me and gave me a warm smile.

"Kody, how are you, dear?" She beamed at me.

"I'm good, thanks. How are you?" I asked her back.

"Well that's good. And I'm great! Joey and Anna came for a visit earlier today, they've grown so much since the last time I saw them!" She informed me. Joey and Anna were Pam's grand children. "I've got to go back and get orders now. It was nice seeing you."

"You too," I said smiling. Pam was always able to bring my mood up.

I continued my journey to table two. When I reached it, I pulled out my notebook and plastered a big smile on my face.

"Hi! My name's Kody," I say cheerily. "Can I get you some beverages or are you ready to order?"

It was a family of four. Two parents, two children. The parents looked to be around their mid-forties. One kid seemed around the age of six with large brown eyes and brown pigtails. The other kid looked maybe fourteen or fifteen and had spiky black hair. He resembled one of those Goth kids from the movies.

"Uh..." The Dad starts. "We'll just have some, uh, water for now." I caught a glimpse of him rubbing the palms of his hands against his pant legs.

"Okay, would you like some bread sticks while you wait?" I asked.

"Um..." The man said hesitantly. What's wrong with him? I thought.

"Trust me, the bread sticks here are delicious," I told them.

"Um, o-okay," he stammers. I raised an eyebrow. Why was he so jumpy?

"Alright, I'll be right back with those and the water." I flashed them a smile. I spun around and immediately dropped it. God, smiling hurts, well when you force it, it does.

I poured some water and grabbed a basket of bread sticks. I made my way back to their table and set them down.

"Here you are," I said. The man grunted in response. Wow, how about a thank you?

"Okay, so are you ready to order?" I asked again, a tinge of annoyance lacing my voice.

"Um, we'd like just a salad," the dad replied. I furrowed my eyebrows. Well that's strange. This restaurant is known for their delicious pasta and all they want is a salad? Interesting...

My smile faltered. "Uh...alright, then. I'll be right back."

I went to the kitchen and requested a large salad. I leaned myself against the counter and eyed the family from afar. The mother and father were whispering furiously.

"Kody, your salad's ready," Sam, one of the chefs announced, breaking me from my reverie. I thanked him and approached the table once again. I placed the salad in the middle. "Here's your salad. Have a nice dinner," I turned around and practically sprinted back to the kitchen before they could say anything.

I waited until the family had finished eating until I neared them again.

"Was the salad okay?" I questioned.

"Uh..." I groaned internally. Here we go again. "It was good," he spoke.

I forced a smile. "Great! Here's the bill-" before I could even finish my sentence, the mother grabbed the little girl and the four of them dashed out of the restaurant, leaving the bill unpaid. I stumbled backwards in a daze. What the hell just happened?

Then it finally hits me. They left without paying the bill...Was that why the man was so nervous? Crap...How do I explain this one?

"Hey, Kody. What's wrong?" Someone said, snapping me out of my thoughts. I looked over to see my manager, Scott walking towards me. Oh shit! What am I going to say?

"Um, n-nothing's wrong, just cleaning up this table," I lied. I decided not to tell the truth because I ddin't want to get this family in trouble or myself for that matter.

He studied me for a second. I squirmed under his intense gaze. "Oh, okay. Well it's getting late, you should go home now," he suggested. I mentally breathed a sigh of relief.

"Okay," I conceded. Scott's pretty cool; He's only twenty-six, so he's quite laid-back. I snatched the bill off the table so no one could find out that it wasn't paid and went the back of the restaurant. I threw the bill in the garbage, making sure it was hidden well and punched out. I checked the time on the clock. 9:23

I left the restaurant after saying bye to a few people and head home. The cool night breeze passes by me causing me to shiver. I wrapped my jumper tighter around me. I rubbed my thinly covered arms and quickened my pace so I didn't freeze to death.

When I reached home, I hurriedly opened the door and scurried inside. I was immediately engulfed in warmth. I leaned against the door and sighed.

I sprinted to my room and stripped off my work clothes. I exchanged them for some comfy pyjama pants and one of Blake's old hockey jerseys. I yawned. Man, I was tired.

I jumped into my single bed and snuggled into the blankets. I thought of the family at the restaurant. Are they as desperate for money as Blake and I are?

I mulled over this for a while until I finally drifted off into the world of unconsciousness.

The New Boy

Beep! Beep! Beep!

I stifled a groan as I reached over and pressed the snooze button on my alarm clock. I cracked open my left eye to be greeted by the morning sun. Squinting, I looked over at my clock. 6:55.

It's Monday, oh joy.

I let out a big yawn and rolled over onto my stomach, burying my face into my pillow, preparing to fall back to sleep. Just as the warm arms of unconsciousness encircled me; my bedroom door burst open.

"Kody, get up, you're going to be late," my brother's familiar voice exclaimed.

"No, five more minutes," I mumbled into my pillow, making it sound incoherent. A breeze of cool air passed by me, causing me to shiver. I reached for my blankets which were pulled off me by my moron of a brother and wrapped them tightly around my body.

"Oh, no you don't," Blake said. Before I had the chance to respond, he grabbed me and hauled me over his shoulder.

"What the hell, Blake! Put me down!" I screeched. I beat my fists against his back and kicked my legs out.

"Hey, you weren't going to get up on your own, so I figured you'd need a little help," he shrugged, causing me to bounce against his back. He came to a halt in the bathroom and set me down so my feet were now touching the floor. "We're leaving early today because I've got a job interview in forty minutes. So hurry up." I didn't bother smiling when he mentioned he had a job interview, remembering he was the cause of my sleep deprived mood.

He sauntered out. "Oh, and do something with that bird's nest you call hair," he called over his shoulder. I scowled at the back of his head.

I turned my attention towards the small mirror hanging on the baby blue wall. I grimaced. My dark brown hair was a tangled and tousled mess on the top of my head causing me to look as if I had just been struck by lightning.

"Damn," I muttered.

"Kody! Hurry up and get in the shower already!" Blake pestered me from down the hall. I groaned and reluctantly stripped off my black singlet and blue pajama shorts. I turned the shower on and slowly climbed into the hot water. I closed my eyes as the warm droplets hit my bare skin. I sighed and quickly washed my hair and body. I turned off the shower and jumped out. I shivered slightly as the cool air hit my naked body and hastily walked over to the closet and pulled out a towel. I wrapped it around my body. I left the bathroom and trudged to my room. Heading straight to my closet, I pulled on a pair of denim jeans and a t-shirt. I slipped on a white hoodie over top. Snatching my brush from my dresser, I attempted to tame the mutant on my head. Finally, when my dark hair was straight and no longer looked like a monster, I grabbed my schoolbag and sprinted down the hall to the kitchen.

Blake was sitting at the table eating an apple. I quickly made myself a bowl of cereal and sat down across from him. I glanced at the clock above the stove. I had five minutes. I devoured my cereal as fast as possible.

"Whoa there, slow down, you're disgusting," Blake made a face. I sent him a glare while continuing to eat. He chuckled, but I ignored him.

When I finished eating, I rushed to the bathroom and quickly brushed my teeth. When I was done, I met Blake in the kitchen once again.

"Ready?" Blake asked when he saw me. I nodded once. He took his keys off the counter and went out the door. I followed him.

When we reached my brother's truck, I opened the passenger seat door and slided onto the nice clothed seat. Blake got in on the opposite side and put the keys in the ignition. The engine roared to life.

"So, second week of school, you excited?" He asked me after a couple of minutes, I could sense the sarcasm behind his words.

"Sure..." I replied. He let out a laugh.

"Try not to get in trouble this week, yeah?"

"I make no promises," I told him. I caught a glimpse of him smiling in my peripheral vision.

"Of course, I'd expect that much. How many times were you in detention last week?" He inquired.

"Only three times." In the mirror I could see the amused grin spreading across his face. "Come on! That's not that bad! Usually it's, like, five times or more. You got to give me credit there."

He let out a throaty chuckle. "Yeah, but on the first week?" I crossed my arms and playfully glared at him through the rear-view mirror. He just smiled back.

__________________________________________________________

Finally, we arrived at Valley View High. The car ride was spent with Blake and I teasing one another like bickering old married couples, but, you know, instead it was sister and brother bickering.

"Thanks for the ride, brother dearest," I said as I opened the car door, sarcasm clearing audible.

"No problem, Kodes." He leaned over and ruffled my hair. "See you later."

"Bye," I shut the door of Blake's beaten up truck and watched as he pulled out of the parking lot. I sighed and ambled up the concrete steps to the front doors of the school. I stepped inside and scanned the crowd of students in search of a certain brown haired boy. I saw black hair, blonde hair, and even purple hair, but no brown.

"KoKo!" a familiar boyish voice shouted. Well, it looks like I found him, I thought, referring to my childhood nickname. I whirled around and saw Dylan walking swiftly toward me with a goofy grin plastered on his face. His mahogany hair bounced with every step he took.

"Oh god, what did you do?" I let out an exasperated sigh.

"Nothing." I gave him a blank stare. "Really, nothing. I'm just happy."

"And why exactly are you happy?"

"Because it's the second week of school!" He exclaimed and suffocated me in a bear hug. He swung me around a few times until he finally set me back on the floor.

"What the hell is wrong with you?" I grabbed his forearm to refrain from falling flat on my face from dizziness.

"It's the second week of school which means I get to hang out with you!" He said in a high-pitched voice. I couldn't decide whether to groan or laugh, so I just stood there with a 'WTF' look on my face.

"I hang out with you every weekend, dip shit. You're my partner in crime." I reminded him in a 'duh' tone.

He shrugged. "I know." Okay, Dylan has got some serious problems.

"You're so weird," I added as we walked towards our first period class.

"That's why you love meee," he shot me a toothy smile and engulfed me in another bone-crushing hug.

"Can't...breathe," I let out through gasps. He immediately let go as I inhaled a large amount of air. "Dumbass," I muttered.

He shook his head and chuckled. "You're so tiny, Ko." He reached over and patted my head. I slapped his hand away and scowled. "Come on, the bell will ring soon."

I sighed and reluctantly lapsed back into step with Dylan. We made our way towards Mr. Ashe's room and trudged to our seats in the back of the class. I slumped in my seat and pulled out my sketchbook.

"Hey, Kody," I peeled my eyes away from my sketchbook and looked over at Dylan. "Are you still coming over tonight?"

I groaned. "Yeah, we got that stupid project to finish," I grumbled. Dylan made a face.

"Damn," he cursed under his breath. "When's it-," Dylan started but was cut off by a vigorous voice.

"Good morning, class. Sorry I'm late." I turned my attention towards Mr. Ashe who was leaning casually against his desk at the front of the room. His sun kissed skin clashed horrifically with his graying hair and goatee.

"It seems we have a new student joining us today," he gestured toward the open door. "Jace Griffin." I followed Mr. Ashe's gaze and my eyes widened. An incredibly good looking guy stepped out of the doorway and into the classroom. His disheveled golden blonde locks laid perfectly on his head. He wore a tight fitted black t-shirt, his abs visible through the thin fabric, and faded jeans slung low at his hips. But what really caught my eye was the striking blue colour of his irises. I knew those eyes. Mr. Ten Pack.

I glanced around the room and saw all the sluts fixing their hair and boobs, flashing Jace flirtatious smiles. I rolled my eyes and focused back on Mr. Ashe who was speaking again.

"So, Jace, would you like to tell the class a little bit about yourself," Mr. Ashe said politely. It wasn't a question.

"No," he deadpanned. Mr. Ashe was taken aback by the sudden refusal. A chorus of gasps filled the room, but I kept mine in. Dylan and I exchanged a look.

"Alright, then. Why don't you take a seat?" Mr. A offered, recovering from his shock. I scanned the room and my heart immediately stopped. There were no empty seats, except for the one desk situated beside mine. Great.

Jace, hands in pockets, strolled casually down the rows of seats and dumped himself in the seat next to mine. I tried to ignore the death glares I received from all the blonde bimbos. Hey, it wasn't my fault the only seat available was beside mine!

Sighing, I focused my attention back on my sketchbook. I started to sketch.

Mr. Ashe started talking, but I couldn't hear him.

My dark hair fell and created a curtain around my face, blocking me from Jace's view. I continued sketching.

"Hey, Kody! Pay attention!" I jumped at Dylan's loud teasing voice, bringing me out of my reverie.

I winced at his loudness, seeing some people looking our way, but thankfully Mr.Ashe didn't hear. I turn towards Dylan and kicked him in the shins. Hard.

Dylan's face contorted in pain. "SHIT, KODY! WHAT THE FU-"

"Mr. Ford!" Mr. Ashe shouted angrily. "What's going on?"

Dylan was still trying to recover from his injury when he grunted, "Oh, um, I just banged my knee off the desk." I laughed.

"Ms. Sabers, is something funny?" he demanded, turning his stern eyes on me.

"No sir!" I grinned.

"Good," he said and turned back to the board.

I smiled sweetly at Dylan and started sketchng again.

The sudden sound of the bell brought me back to earth. I focused my eyes on my drawing. I stared at it in shock. Holy...shit.

Sketched perfectly onto the white piece of paper was...a...penis. Whoa...I never knew I could draw so good, I thought. I hurriedly ripped the piece of paper out of my book, not wanting Dylan to see it, but a hand tore it out of my grasp. I whirled around and saw Dylan with my sketch in his hands.

I stood there staring at him in horror. Dylan cannot see my drawing. "Dylan! Give that back!" I tried to pry my drawing out of his hands, but Dylan held it high above his head where five foot five me couldn't reach it.

"What'd you draw?" He asked before looking at it. Once he did, his eyes widened.

"You drew...a penaynay!" He burst out laughing. I snatched the drawing out of his hands and crumpled it in anger.

"Will you shut up?" I hissed.

"But it's too funny! You drew a dick!" He said through laughs. "You do know this isn't health class, right?" His eyes twinkled with amusement.

"Hey, in my defense I think it looks more like a water fountain than a," I lowered my voice and whispered, "penis."

Dylan burst out laughing all over again at my comment, much to my dismay. I glanced around the room and saw some people staring at us, including the new boy. I looked away in sheer embarrassment and sent an icy cold glare at Dylan. He didn't even notice.

I groaned and grabbed him by the bicep. I hauled the still laughing moron out of the classroom. The teacher gave us a disapproving look which I returned with an apologetic one.

I dragged Dylan down the hall and stopped in front of some lockers. I punched him in the arm.

"Ow! Dammit, Kody! You've got one hard punch," he said rubbing his arm, a frown on his face. I crosssed my arms and glowered at him.

"You totally embarrassed me back there." I told him.

"Hey, it's not my fault you like to draw male parts," I clapped my hand over his mouth.

"Okay, okay. I get it. But it's not that funny."

"Oh yes, it is." His voice was muffled by my hand, but I still heard him. I felt him smirking and sighed.

"Okay, maybe it's a little funny, but can you stop talking about it? It's embarrassing." I removed my hand from his mouth and looked at the floor.

"Hmm, I don't think so. Plus, this is payback for kicking me in the shin, which probably has a huge bruise now, thanks to you. " I smiled sheepishly at him.

"Sorry," I apoloigised. "But please don't talk about what I drew, even if its is hilarious."

"Nah, it's fun to remind you," he said.

"You mean-"

"Oh look at the time. I have to get to class. See you later, KoKo!" And with that, he was gone. Well, he's definitely number one on my To-Kill-List.

All of a sudden, I hear a throat being cleared. I spun around and came face to face with the new boy. I was immediately mesmerized by the deep intensity of his eyes once again.

"My locker," is all he says. I'm an idiot.

"Oh, sorry." I move away from his locker. I watched, deep in thought, as he turned the knob on his lock.

He sensed someone watching him and snapped his head up. Busted.

He raised his eyebrows at me in question and I hurriedly scurried down the hall in embarrassment. Great, I'm officially the world's worst stalker.

The bell signaling for lunch rang, droning out Miss Parker's voice. I got up from my seat and made my way to the door where about twenty people were trying to get through at once. I rolled my eyes and waited until the majority of the people had gotten through the door.

When I got to my locker, I threw my things in it. Literally, causing a big bang, but I really didn't care. I was starving.

I got to the cafeteria and grabbed a lunch tray. I joined the line of hungry teenagers anxiously choosing their food. Someone came up behind me and put their arm around my shoulder. I looked up to see who my next victim was and saw Dylan's smirking face. That ass.

"Hello, Koko," he said.

I scoffed. "Shut up."

"Oh, I was just wondering how your day was. Been drawing any male parts lately?" I could tell he was trying not to laugh.

"Oh, I don't know. But I do feel the urge to kick a male part." I said sweetly.

The smirk fell from his face. "You wouldn't..."

"Oh, I think we both know, I would," He gaped at me. I smirked.

He cleared his throat and took a noticeably big step back. "Well, I'll, uh, see you later," I bit the inside of my cheek trying to contain my laughter.

"Okay, see ya!" I said with a huge grin on my face. I chuckled to myself. Payback's a bitch.

I grabbed a ham sandwich and water bottle of the rack and continued down the line.

"$4.89," the lady behind the counter said, rather impatiently. I handed her my money and hustled over toward an empty table. I sat down and crouched low in my seat, picking at my sandwich.

"Hey, Kody!" A cheery voice exclaimed. I looked up from my sandwich and saw Chelsea sitting down across from me.

"Hey," I greeted.

"I haven't seen you all day," she complained.

"Sorry, Dylan's been annoying the hell out of me." I groaned.

"Well, that's Dylan for you," she chuckled.

I looked at Chelsea. Her blonde hair was in perfect waves around her heart shaped face and her green eyes were as bright as ever. Chelsea was definitely the prettier one between us.

"Where's Tyler?" I asked her, noticing a certain black haired boy was nowhere in sight.

"Oh, he's sick with the flu," she told me. Well that explains why they weren't sucking faces this very moment.

"So, how was the party?" I asked, munching on my sandwhich.

She giggled. "Oh, uh, it was fun, I think."

"You think?" I urged.

"Yeah, apparently I got pretty wasted. Don't remember much. All I know is that Tyler took me home and I woke up with a massive hangover."

"Well, that's what alcohol can do to you." I said, relieved that I didn't go to the party.

"Yeah," She sighed. "Anyway, we still on for the weekend?"

"Hell, yeah!" I exclaimed. "I can't wait to see me some Mr. Chow!" I fist pumped the air.

"God, you and Dylan really are obsessed with the Chinese guy from the Hangover, aren't you?" Chelsea laughed.

"What? He's awesome!" I declared.

"Okay..." Chelsea trailed off.

I finished eating my sandwich just as the bell rang. I stood up and threw my trash in the garbage. "See you later, Chels." I waved to her over my shoulder.

"See ya," she called back.

When I was at my locker, I grabbed my stuff and headed to music class.

When I walked in, my eyes immediately landed on the classic black piano in the corner of the room. Ms. Holt was perched on the edge of the piano bench. Ms. Holt was definitely one of my favourite teachers, she was the only one that didn't hate me. I smiled at her.

"Hello, Kody. How are you today?" She asked me in her soothing voice.

"I'm good, thanks." I took my seat at the back of the class and waited for the others to arrive.

"Okay class." Ms. Holt began once everyone was seated. "Today we'll be learning some music notes." A chorus of groans circled the room. But I stayed silent. I've known music notes my whole life.

"Don't worry, it will be easy," Ms. Holt clasped her hands together in her lap and smiled. Just as she was about to say something else, the door swung open, revealing a very hot new boy. I stifled a groan. He's in my music class, too?

"Ah, yes. You must be Jace." Ms. Holt got up and walked towards Jace. "I'm Ms. Holt, the music teacher."

Jace nodded in acknowledgement and took a seat in the back, my row. God, what's with him and me loving the back row?

"Okay, so I will hand you all out a worksheet on music notes to finish," Ms. Holt told us. I sat up straighter in my seat. Once I got a sheet I pulled out my pen and started working. I read the first question.

Write how many counts each music note has.

Wow, this was grade one stuff.

I took my time doing the questions, not wanting to finish before everyone else. When I was anwering the last question, taking about a minute to write each word, a shadow loomed over me. I snapped my head up and saw Jace getting up from his seat, paper in hand. I watched him as he strolled over to Ms.Holt and handed her his sheet. Did he finish already? Maybe they already learned this stuff at his old school, I thought. I shrugged and went back to answering the question.

When I finally finished writing the answer for the last question, which took me a while, I saw that everyone was still working away. Holy shit, how slow are these people?

Sighing, I got up and handed Ms. Holt my sheet.

"Thank you, Kody." She smiled at me.

I nodded and trudged back to my seat. Looking at the clock, I saw that there was still twenty minutes left of class. I crossed my arms and crouched down in my seat, stretching my legs out, I stared attentively at my black converse.

When will this class end? I thought. I'd die of boredom before I got out of here.

I began counting how many lights there were in the room. One, two, three, four, five, six....seven. One, two, three, four, five, six, seven. One, two, three, fo- My thoughts were cut off by the bell. Oh thank god!

Collecting my things, I hurried out of the classroom, muttering a 'good-bye' to Ms. Holt. Dammit, how am I going to survive music class if it's like that everytime?

Grumbling under my breath, I proceeded to my next class.
